MCHC was born from a vision for an educational alternative that would offer something unique: a quality international curriculum that would invest in the spiritual growth of the children using it while also teaching them by example to love learning.
In order to do this, MCHC invests in quality teachers who are dedicated to loving and respecting the children they teach. MCHC administrators, teachers, and staff work diligently to create an environment where children feel safe to question, think, and grow.
MCHC has also worked hard to develop relationships with the publishers of the curriculum used at the school. This has allowed us to pass on significant discounts to the families of our students. With the cost of materials plus shipping from overseas (not to mention taxes once the materials enter Kenya), these discounts are extremely helpful.
It is said that "big things come in little packages," and never has that been more true than with MCHC. It's true that we are new and small, but don't let appearances fool you. There is more heart in this little school than you can imagine. Besides, our size allows us to give one-on-one instruction to our students, differentiating instruction where necessary. Do you have a third grade (class 3) student who struggles with reading? We can not only accommodate your child, we can allow your child to continue learning at his grade level while still working with his reading skills. Do you have a child who is brilliant in reading but struggles with maths? We can help her improve her understanding of math while allowing her to continue moving forward in her other subjects. MCHC is about more than short-term memory for passing tests - we are about understanding. It's one thing to memorize a math formula - it's another things to understand why that formula works and when to use it in real life situations. It's one thing to memorize a list of spelling words - it's another thing to understand why words are spelled the way they are so a child can spell and read words they've never seen before. MCHC is about more than the WHAT of education...it's about the WHY and the HOW.
