Testimonials

Jina Dossa spent two weeks with us as an intern/substitute teacher.  She attended both St. Andrew's Turi, and Hillcrest Secondary schools in Nairobi and is currently a university student in Canada. Below, read her testimony of working with us here at MCHC.

"I am simply blown away and I am truly amazed by M.C.H.C! The students are so loved and are surrounded by caring staff who are attentive to each student’s needs. The children are thriving and the space they have created together is spectacular. Walking in I was able to see the walls covered in the children’s learning journey; from visual geographical landmarks to an enormous historical timeline, from playdough letters to spiderwebs created from sand, from informative grammar posters to colourful signs about important habits. The children are in a bright and beautiful environment that affirms positive values and the importance of fostering a
love for learning.

In terms of the curriculum I observed the effectiveness of teaching students the reasoning behind concepts. Teaching them using this method allows them to be able to apply concepts to a multitude of others independently! They are mastering these rather than rushing through the syllabus and therefore ensuring a solid foundation for their future. Not only is the academic content in depth and advanced, the extra curricula available allow the children to be extremely well rounded. Robotics, swimming, chess and ballet are but some examples of the what the students have access to. Being able to volunteer at such an incredible school, with such amazing staff and students, has confirmed for me that teaching is my calling.

A big thank you to all of the staff and students who have allowed me to be a part of their learning and teaching. I am so grateful for all that I have learnt and for the memories we created together. I will always cherish my time at M.C.H.C, that was filled with so much laughter, smiles, hugs and personal losses in badminton at recess.

Asante Sana, Merci Beaucoup and Thank You!"
