FAQs

* How do BJU textbooks compare with other publishers?
Our textbooks are written from a well-rounded and proven philosophy of education. We believe that the best way to help a child learn is to help him understand what he's learning—not having him simply memorize the information.
All of our textbooks are also thoroughly biblically integrated. That doesn't mean that we just throw in some verses. We have a team of individuals devoted to making sure that the Bible is properly referenced and indicated in texts for each subject and at every grade level.

* How do students who use BJU Press textbooks score on achievement tests compared to students who use other curriculum?

*What is the problem with making tests the measure of an education?

*What is the problem with “teaching to the test”?

*Are your textbooks accredited
Textbooks and curriculum cannot be accredited; only schools can.

*How do I know what my students should be learning for each subject or grade?
BJU's Scope and Sequence (lesson objectives, skills, etc. and when they are taught) can be found on this web-site: https://www.bjupress.com/pdfs/catalogs/2019-scope-and-sequence-subject.pdf

*Why is critical thinking so crucial to learning?

*Are BJU Press textbooks academically rigorous?

*Is MCHC sponsored by overseas investors?
No.  While MCHC gets an occasional gift from friends of friends, the school is funded strictly by school fees.

*Your Head Teacher is American.  Does your history curriculum focus on American history?
No.  We specifically chose the curriculum Mystery of History because it teaches history is a chronological manner.  American history will be briefly covered when we chronologically get to it.  As a Kenyan school, we recognize the importance of Kenyan and African history; as an ethnically diverse school, we recognize that we are part of a global community.  As a Christian school, we recognize that history is "His - Story" and therefore our main goal is to help our students connect history to a greater meta-story...the story of Redemption.  A chronological teaching of history is the best way to accomplish all those goals.
